The Good
The Kebe Hot 2 Wheel uses a double balance technique with a built-in gyroscope and a sensor for gravity that allows for better stability and ease of use. It is extremely quiet, so you can ride without disturbing any one’s peace and quiet. Wheels have the ability to be controlled individually and are made of aviation aluminum alloy, which is light, strong and durable. The accompanying tires are wear-resistant and are suitable for almost all road conditions. Weighing in at 22 lbs, this hoverboard is one of the lightest ones on the market and is fairly cheap compared to other scooters.
The Bad
Although this product is good for its price, we experienced some charging issues. First thing we noticed was that the charger had a burned plastic smell out of the box. To be on the safe side, we decided to purchase a new charger. We also had a little bit of a trouble charging our hoverboard when we plugged it in as soon as it died down. However, we were able to charge it up again after letting it rest for half an hour.
In addition, Kebe is a Chinese company, so contacting the manufacturer for customer service issues is not the easiest process.
The Verdict
Although marketed as a hoverboard for adults, children can also operate this self-balancing scooter with ease. Its balance and mobile technology, built-in gyroscope, gravity sensor and individually controlled wheels, allow for maximum maneuverability by the user. The wheels and tires are made from top-notch, quality materials. Not only that, the hoverboard comes in five colors, is extremely lightweight and quiet, and doesn’t put too big of a dent in your wallet.
The Kebe Hot 2 Wheel can go up to 14km/H, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing. Those with a need for speed will love the 14km/H capability of this self-balancing scooter because most top of at 10k/H. However, with the speed comes the high risk for more serious injury should the rider fall going at top speed. If you’re going to ride this hoverboard, it is recommended that you wear the appropriate safety gear including helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards.
However, our encounter with battery issues including a suspicious smell and the inability to recharge is something worth noting. As with other self-balancing scooters powered by lithium ion batteries, potential buyers should be aware that these have been known to overheat and combust. To minimize this risk, hoverboards with lithium ion batteries should only be charged under a watchful eye and never overnight or while no one is at home.
Important to note is that buyers of Hot 2 Wheels may receive little to no customer service support since the manufacturing company is based in China. Buy at your own risk.
