We recently did our own search for electric utility vehicles and couldn’t find what we were looking for. So we decided to do our own reviews based on specs and testimonials found online.

Polaris Ranger UTV EV
The Polaris Ranger EV is perfect for navigating tough, rugged terrain. The Ranger has been around forever, but the EV model was just introduced a few years ago. We’ve read the early reviews—and they weren’t so great. But technology has improved, and so has the Ranger EV.
It’s perfect for hunters looking for a quiet approach to their deer stand. On rugged off-road terrain, it will never be noiseless, but it’s considerably quieter than gas-powered versions.
It has a payload capacity of 1,000 lbs, which is more than enough to transfer two people and some gear. The Ranger EV comes standard with a single 48-volt, high efficiency, AC-induction motor. The listed MSRP is $11,299.
In doing our research online, we came upon these two very helpful reviews from people who actually own and operate this vehicle:
“The biggest surprise was the power and range. We hunt in the bluffs of Buffalo county. After a full 6 hours of driving up and down the steep hills with two guys and gear, the EV had over 60% power remaining.” (source)

John Deere TE 4×2 Electric
With a lower ground clearance and a longer wheelbase, the John Deere TE 4×2 Electric is a little less rugged than the Polaris Ranger EV. But it’s great if you’re working in the yard or in the field. John Deere does offer more rugged models, but we prefer the relaxed styling of the TE.
This electric UTV can be easily customized with tons of optional attachments and accessories. You can add a front bumper, a cargo box power lift, a side extension kit, a side tool rack, a beacon light, a receiver hitch, and all sorts of other details.
With a wide stance for stability and a best in class cargo box, this John Deere is both reliable and efficient. It features a wound direct drive with a 48-volt system, a separately excited controller, and it can hit a max speed of 15 mph. You’ll find this one listed with an MSRP of $11,659.
Textron Prowler EV iS
Not familiar with the Textron name? It’s a lesser known brand, but when it comes to E-UTVs, the Prowler EV iS is top of the line. With an MSRP of $13,499, this model is a little more expensive than the Polaris or John Deere. But this all-wheel drive machine is made to conquer rough terrain.
The Prowler features a 72V AC electric drivetrain, which is much higher than the previous two models described above. Textron also makes the claim that their AC drive is 25% more efficient than DC-powered vehicles.
The Prowler EV iS is made in the America in Augusta, GA. It has a 70-inch wheelbase, has a ground clearance of 9.5 inches, can tow up to 1,000 pounds, and features Carlisle Trail Pro Tires. The Polaris Ranger EV also uses Carlisle tires, but not the pro series. The Prowler EV iS stands up to any off-road vehicle, electric or not.

Honorable Mentions
There are two other models that almost made our list. Rather than leaving them out, we’ve decided to give them an honorable mention.
Taylor-Dunn ET-150 72V
Taylor-Dunn has been making tough and rugged commercial and industrial vehicles since 1949. From electric carts to tow tractors, they have a reputation for creating efficient, economical vehicles.
The ET-150 72V has an impressive tow capacity of 7,500 lbs and a load capacity of 1,500 lbs. It can hit a top speed of 25 mph, has an 85″ long deck, and can be customized with tool cabinets, ladder racks, cargo boxes, and other accessories. Sized to fit two passengers, it has a 102″ wheelbase, a 72V battery and a powertrain of 230V/60Hz.
Club Car 4×2 Electric UTV
We know you’re probably thinking the Club Car is nothing more than a golf cart, but the Club Car 4×2 Electric UTV is worth checking out.
Safe at a speed of 25 mph, this UTV comes in a variety of different sizes, depending on your needs. It’s made mostly for commercial use, so getting your hands on one as an individual can be tricky.
